Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the most ancient system of medicine in the World which was originated for 5,000 years. It was originated with the origin of the world for the welfare of human beings.

Literally, the word “Ayurveda” is made of two Sanskrit words “Ayur” and “Veda” where Ayur means life and Veda means the science. So Ayurveda is the science of life. It deals with the Happy life, unhappy life, healthy life and unhealthy life. It deals about how to remain healthy physically, mentally, socially and spiritually and increase our life span. The ways to live a happy life and get rid of sorrow are described in it. It is explained in Vedas we have got a beautiful human life and by doing good karma we have to live a healthy and wealthy life. To live a unhealthy and poor life without doing karma is a sin in itself. Through Ayurveda doctors, you can know the individual nature and the special diet regimes accordingly. You can also know the individual yoga to be practiced and the daily and seasonal regimes to be performed.


Similar as Yoga, Ayurveda is also about the balance, it has got the three biological elements known as Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The balance of these three doshas in our body is considered as health and when one of it is imbalanced then it can cause the disease.The five subtle elements earth,water, fire, air and space are present in the earth and the human body. These elements are the fundamentals of Ayurveda. Ayurveda focuses on healthy, happy and long life. The main aim of Ayurveda is to preserve the health of a healthy person and to cure the disease of a diseased person.

Treatments in Ayurveda:

There  are two types of treatment in Ayurveda.

Saman Chikitsa(pacifying treatment)

Different kinds of natural herbs and minerals are used in Ayurveda. Medicines are used in the powder, paste or in the form of tea or juice. Different forms of medicines are given orally or applied locally in case of increased or decreased Doshas. It is more effective when the disease is new.

Pancakarma/Sodhana Chikitsa(purifying treatment)

It is also known as the process of detoxification. Here the toxins or the vitiated Doshas are taken away from the body from nearest outlet. It is very effective in case of chronic diseases as well. The word pancakarma is made of two Sanskrit words Panca and Karma where Panca means five and Karma means treatment activities. There are five main treatment procedure done in it.

  • Vamana(emesis)
  • Virecana (purgation)
  • Basti-Asthapana(Enema)
  • Basti –Anuvasana
  • Nasya (Nasal administration)

WHY AYURVEDA IN NEPAL?

Ayurveda is the traditional system of medicine in ancient Indian Subcontinent. Indian subcontinent includes Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan and Srilanka.

It was practiced more on these countries. Therefore it is also known as ancient Indian Medicine.  Nepal is rich in its natural beauty, traditions and cultures.
